There could be any number of reasons, but a quick guess might be that the applet is broken by calling for a plugin that hasn't been uploaded.
I can't find the adnd.Alias plugin, but you're trying to load it anyway.

The alias plugin was missing from the zip. I've uploaded a fresh zip so download it and try again.

I don't see where you meant Firefox. I'm not a mind reader you know.

Nor do I natively use FireFox or Apple Macs. But I do try to code to take them into account.

I did try again to check it with my Firefox browser on my Linux box, but it seems that you have deleted the installation. If you choose to re-install it at any time please let me know and I'll take another look.

[edit]
Hmm got that wrong. The files are still there, just slow to load...

I took a look at your applet in FireFox and in Opera, and so far it looks rubbish.
I don't know right now how to fix it, but I will try to look into it further for you if I can. My internet connection this week is like swimming through mud...

Same problem here :(

It doesn't connect to default server
var defaultServer = 'irc.globalchat.org';

But you can connect using /server command without problems and it will automatically join to default #chan with default nick.

I'm not loading any plugin
var DescBot = '0';
var addAlias = '0';

I tried different .jar and .cab files instead of provided with GoPJirc2.2.4 but it didn't work either.
I downloaded and instaled GoPJirc2.2.4 several times, but nothing to do :?
My java & browser caches are cleared...

Ah, if I set up irc.adnd.com like default server it connects perfectly (automatically) :roll:

Of course I changed port number for my server
,'port','6667'

Any idea? thanks

Ok back from hols.

It's odd that our server at adnd.com woirks but not yours. Is there anything in the status source for a clue?

I'll try to check back later when I've unpacked all my stuff.

The most received message is:
Imposible conectarse: java.net.ConnectException : Connection timed out: connect

Sometimes I got one of these:
Imposible conectarse: java.net.ConnectException : Connection refused: connect

Startup error: java.lang.Error:Unable to load interface pixx:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:irc.gui.pixx.Interface

It doesn't matter which lang and pixx:lang files are used, I tried the original english from GoPJirc (and also other from different PJIRC versions).

A few times, trying to connect directly to goChat.html (I renamed GoPJirc.html and modified userpass.html: <form name='jform' id='jform' action='goChat.html' target="_self" method=get>) I got a new one:
-- *** Ident broken or disabled, to continue to connect you must type /QUOTE PASS 14981

I even received that last message using /server command today :(

Notes:
- I tried a lot of irc servers, it's not a problem of mine
- Another users have the same messages, so it's not something of my ISP
- I also run a "simple" PJIRC applet (with login page) from the same web host and works fine (in a different directory)

I'm not sure what you're telling me here.
You can't mix and match applet & GUI versions. It doesn't work that way.
If you wish to change the GUI then you have to use the applet version that matches it.

Anyway. As far as I can tell the applet is correctly configured, but for some reason it times out when connecting to the server.
Some servers are allergic to java applets and will actively resist connecting to them. However I don't say that this is what is happening. I can't see anything in the java console logs that gives me any clue so I'm going to mark this as a potential bug and see if we can find a way to determine what goes wrong.
You say that a simple applet works well enough! Can you let me have a link to that one please?

Here you have the link to the simple applet: http://webochat.cjb.net

About mixes I made in the applet I must say they were a desperate try to find a miracle :cry:

I forgot miracles don't exist :lol:

Both applets, GoPJIRC and the simple one, are configured to connect to the same server (irc.opera.com, port 6667). The simple applet works with all servers I tried.

Thanks, Thema

This is the message from goPJirc page:
network: Connecting socket://irc.opera.com:9000 with proxy=DIRECT

Whereas the simple page is:
network: Connecting socket://irc.opera.com:6667 with proxy=DIRECT

Note the port number.

var serverport = '9000'
