Sbox for phpBB...

Postby PapaBearPW » Wed May 31, 2006 12:55 am

Hi,

First off, thanks to all the PJIRC folks!

I like the ability to move the taskbar to the left side that I saw was available via the Sbox Mod. It took a while but I managed to get it integrated in my phpBB site. Thanks mostly to the Mod made by Midnightz and a few changes of my own, I managed to make the taskbarwest parameter (for moving the taskbar to a column on the left side) an option in the ACP.

Basically I was just wondering if anyone was interested in trying out these changes on their boards....

Or am I going to feel like and idiot because someone has already done it?

Thanks again...

Thanks for the confirmation that my SB plugin is being used somewhere :D

Personally I have found that waiting for any kind of feedback is both a waste of time, and an innacurate way to see if people like your stuff.

In all the time I have posted mods & plugins I have received only a handful of positive feedback posts, nevertheless I have seen my plugins downloaded many thousands of times. I can only guess that somebody else is finding them useful.

In my humble opinion you should just post the mod and see how many people download it.

You're quite welcome. I understand what you are saying though. Just a couple questions.

1. If I post it, should I include all the files from Midnightz PJIRC Chat Mod and your SBox in the zip? Or should I just include the files I edited along with install instructions?

2. Should I just put a link to the zip file here?

I've never done this before, so I have to ask. :oops:

Normally you would post just the files you updated with clear instructions on how to use them to the downloads area. Unfortunately there's a problem with that right now so a link to the zip on a webhost would be good for now.
Failing that you could email them to thema at adnd dot com and I will host them for you until the uploads are fixed again.

Ok. I'll be making a few more changes to include more options in the ACP probably and then I'll post a link to the download.

Thanks again for the advice.

Real life has a tendency to get in the way...lol...anyway here is what I have. Basically all I did was add the sbox into my pjirc and made 4 of the parameters editable from the ACP.

Taken from your Sbox readme file, they are:

Code: Select all
  showmenubar : Shows or hides the top menu bar. Defaults to true.
  -----------

    Example :
      <param name="sbox:showmenubar" value="true">

  shownicklist : Shows or hides the nicklist panel. Defaults to true.
  ------------

    Example :
      <param name="sbox:shownicklist" value="true">

  showtaskbar : Shows or hides the taskbar panel. Defaults to true.
  -----------

    Example :
      <param name="sbox:showtaskbar" value="true">

  taskbarwest : Moves the taskbar panel to the left of the source. Defaults to false.
  -----------

    Example :
      <param name="sbox:taskbarwest" value="false">
